GALLOWAY, N.J. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer team came back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against Stockton University in a non-conference match on Wednesday night.
The Ospreys took an early lead as they scored in the 10
th minute of the match. From there, Neumann was able to stave off the Stockton attack as they started to pounce offensively, earning a total of five corner kicks without allowing one from their opponents throughout the rest of the first half.
Fifteen minutes into the second, Stockton doubled their lead with a tap in goal after a crossing pass. With 8:38 remaining in the match, the Knights were finally able to get on the scoreboard.
Chase Dougherty sent a cross into the box and
Riley Senisi headed it in for his first goal of the season. In the final minute of play, Neumann was awarded a free kick.
Jordan Illian took it and ripped the ball into the corner of the goal for his fourth goal of the season, and the equalizer.
In addition to his late heroics, Illian led the way with three shots, two of them on goal.
AJ Henry finished the game with three saves, helping preserve the tie.
Neumann (2-2-2) will be back on the pitch on Saturday night when they visit King's College in Scranton for a 7:30 PM start.
