ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team suffered a 4-1 defeat on Saturday afternoon against Lancaster Bible College in a non-conference matchup.
The Knights started off strong with possession and opportunity through the first half hour of the match but could not find a way to break through on the scoreboard. The Chargers took control of the game with goals in the 37
th and 40
th minutes for a 2-0 lead. They added two more goals in the second half, grabbing markers in the 58
th and 80
th minute. With just under seven minutes left,
Anna Poehlmann angled a pass to
Julianna Hatt. She stepped to her left a lifted in her first of the season to avoid the shut out.
Hatt led the offensive effort with four shots, in addition to her goal. Poehlmann and
Catherine Miller added three shots each.
Shannon Duffy made seven saves, including three diving stops in goal, in an effort to keep the Knights close.
Neumann (2-5-1) will hit the road for their next five matches, starting on Wednesday when they visit Lebanon Valley College for a 4:00 PM start.
