ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision against York College of Pennsylvania in a non-conference match-up on Wednesday night.
The first half saw a dynamic start as York found the back of the net at the 14:01 mark, putting the visitors ahead. Neumann responded decisively in the 21st minute when
Or Megnazi capitalized on a setup from
Luke Mejia to level the score. Despite a strong defensive effort, including key saves by
Carson Metzger, the Spartans pulled ahead once more in the 36th minute, to close the half with a 2-1 advantage.
The second half began with the Knights'
Zion Atta-Krah taking an early shot that went wide left at the 46:10 mark. Despite the pressure from York with multiple attempts, Metzger and the Knights' defense held strong, including a crucial save by
AJ Henry on a shot in the 74th minute, and multiple shots headed off the line by the defense. The Knights continued to press forward, but shots from
Jordan Illian,
Markus Beugre, and
Carter Gorczyca were saved or narrowly missed, concluding the game with York maintaining their lead.
Metzger recorded four saves while facing eight shots over 48 minutes of play. Henry made two saves, keeping a clean sheet during his 42 minutes on the field.
Neumann (1-2) will return to action on Saturday for their first road game as they visit FDU-Florham up in New Jersey. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
