Women’s Soccer and Albright Finish in Draw

READING, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team travelled to Albright College for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth game on Wednesday night and settled for a 1-1 tie.

Withing the first two minutes, Neumann had a wonderful opportunity to get on the board, but Hannah Dang's shot clanged off the crossbar. In the 15th minute, the Knights turned a goal kick into a breakaway as Ebony Arvelo collected the kick, heeled it to Delaney Babish, who led Ava Stokes on a break. Fighting off a defender, she rolled in her third goal of the season. That score though the remainder of the half as Neumann outshot the Lions, 6-3.

The Knights continued to control play but, in the 65th minute, a half volley rose to the top of the net, tying the game at one. From that point, it was Albright who carried much of the momentum as they finished the game with a 14-12 edge in shots, and an 8-6 lead in shots on goal. That tilt in play was not enough to find a result for either team as the rest of the match went scoreless.

Arvelo led the Knights with four shots, two on goal. Julianna Hatt and Stokes each put up two shots, with all challenging the goal. Shannon Duffy finished the game with seven saves to help preserve the deadlock.

Neumann (2-8-2, 0-3-1 MAC Commonwealth) will return home on Saturday afternoon as they celebrate their Class of 2027 with a non-conference game against Arcadia University. The battle of the Knights is set to kick off at 4:00 PM with the Senior Day ceremony occurring beforehand.
