ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team dropped its Atlantic East Conference opener 6-1 to Pratt Institute on Saturday afternoon.
In doubles action,
Logan Gorbitz and
Akezhan Melis won second doubles, 6-2. The Cannoneers took the other two matches for the doubles point.
The Knights picked up their point at fifth singles, where after falling 6-3 in the first set, Gorbitz came back for a 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) win.
Mike Brown battled at first singles, falling 6-4, 6-1.
James Leuzzi competed at third singles, but fell 6-4, 6-2.
"It was a tough match today, but I think we learned what we need to do to prepare for the rest of the season," says Gorbitz. "We have more opportunities coming up this week and want to keep elevating our game as a team. Saw a lot of good things out on the courts and excited to get back to work on Monday.
Neumann (4-3, 0-1 Atlantic East) will host Bridgewater next Wednesday in a rescheduled game beginning at 3:00 PM.
