HADDONFIELD, N.J. – The Atlantic East Conference announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon, and four Neumann University student athletes were honored.
Ava Valente was named the Women's Flag Football Player of the Week while Baseball's
Anthony Rakotz, Women's Lacrosse's
Alena Catka, and Softball's
Rebecca DiLeo were all placed on the weekly Honor Roll.
Valente passed for 504 yards and seven touchdowns in three games with a 49.2 pass-percentage in a 2-1 conference week for the Knights. She also rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns. In a 54-25 win over Centenary, the first year compiled 251 yards and four touchdowns. She followed with 284 yards and five touchdowns in a 40-12 win over Penn State Schuylkill. This is Valente's second weekly recognition by the Atlantic East after being named to the Honor Roll on March 9
th.
Rakotz hit .438 in four games with seven hits, two doubles, five runs scored and two RBI as Neumann went 2-1-1 overall and 2-0 in conference action. He also stole four bases and walked three times. Six of the junior's hits came in a sweep of Saint Elizabeth. In a 15-1 win in game two, Rakotz went 4-for-5 with two doubles, and three runs scored. This is his second weekly Honor Roll selection this season.
Catka scored two goals, added two assists and picked up 22 draw controls as Neumann went 1-1 overall and defeated Marymount for the first time ever to open conference action. In a loss to Stevenson, the junior scored three goals. She followed with three goals and an assist as the Knights defeated the Saints 15-9. Catka picked up 11 draw controls in each game. This is the fifth time she has been recognized by the conference this season and her third weekly Honor Roll selection.
DiLeo pitched a complete game and got the win in a 5-1 victory over Swarthmore. Over seven innings, she allowed just one run on eight hits and struck out two. She also got out of a bases loaded, no one out jam in the fourth inning. The first year also pitched a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts against Elizabethtown earlier in the week.
