Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s Lacrosse Succumbs to Stockton

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse showed no quit on Tuesday afternoon but dropped a tough challenge to Stockton University in a non-conference game by a final score of 28-4.

Stockton scored the first 11 goals of the game over 9:13 of game play. Neumann got on the scoreboard with 3:34 to go in the first when Connor Hurley notched his ninth of season after a pass from Luke Sykes. The Ospreys scored two more in the first for a 13-1 lead. They also added four more in the second to lead by 16 at the break.

After giving up the first three goals of the third, the Knights connected on a pretty give-and-go fast break. With 1:13 left in the quarter, Bryan Avanzato picked up a ground ball and raced forward. He passed to Matt Morris who quickly returned it to him. Avanzato then stuffed in his sixth goal of the season. Stockton responded with three second left to lead 21-2.

27 seconds into the fourth, Cooper Dee got a pass from Darius Thompson and fired it in. The Ospreys scored the next three goals before Dee and Thompson connected again, giving Dee his 14th goal of the season. Stockton closed out the game with the final four goals.

Avanzato helped defensively as well with a caused turnover and five ground balls. Nate McLaughlin added four ground balls. Owen Avelar made nine saves in the first three quarters while Tommy Bryson Jr. mopped up with three saves.

Neumann (0-12, 0-2 Atlantic East) will return to action on Saturday when they visit Gwynedd Mercy University for a 12:00 PM start.
