ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team dropped a 4-1 non-conference decision against Muhlenberg College on Friday evening.
The Mules got on the board for the first time, just 6:05 into the game after a corner got loose in the box and fell behind the goalkeeper. Although Neumann kept things tight throughout the first half. The score remained the same for the rest of the half.
In the first minute of the second,
Julianna Hatt took an errant pass and broke into the box. On her way in, she was tripped and a penalty shot was awarded.
Hannah Dang was tasked with taking the kick and fired it into the lower right corner for her third goal of the season, tying the match. Unfortunately for the Knights, the rest of the half was dominated by Muhlenberg as they out shot Neumann 18-2 in the second half. The Mules retook the lead in the 61
st minute after a fast break and a cross. They put up two more goals, 16 seconds apart, in the 67
th and 68
th minutes to seal the game.
Dang scored her goal on Neumann's lone shot on goal in the game.
Shannon Duffy made four saves in 68 minutes while
Kiki Soto made one save in a mop-up role.
Neumann (1-2) will try to get back to a .500 record on Wednesday night when they host Catholic University for a 7:00 PM start.
