Brett Berger will begin his first season as the assistant coach for the Neumann Knight’s Men’s ice hockey program.
Throughout the years, Berger has worked closely with retired professional hockey players during summer camps and hockey clinics throughout the Tri-State area.
Throughout the last four seasons, Berger has been at Adrian College as the Assistant Coach for their ACHA DI team. During his time there he compiled an overall record of 101-48-5, reaching the ACHA National Tournament in the last two season, both ending in the quarterfinals. In 2011, he helped the program to win the inaugural GLCHL Regular Season Championship and then capture the GLCHL Playoff Championship in 2012.
Last season Berger also took on the role of Head Coach for the ACHA DIII Gold program at Adrian College. Berger led this new program to a perfect 10-0 league record (26-3-2 overall), taking home the Regular Season and Playoff Championships. From there, the team earned their first ever National Tournament bid as they won both regional qualifying to put them in as the number three seed in the north. From there, they never looked back as Berger led the team to a perfect 5-0 during the National Tournament, capturing the school’s first ever National Championship.
At Adrian, Berger ran the defensive units as well as the penalty kill units. Along with these responsibilities, he played a major role in the recruiting process to make Adrian’s ACHA DI program a National contender. Berger will assume similar roles at Neumann for the 2012-2013 season.
Berger earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from Rutgers University, where he played for their ACHA Division I team.
