Chris Simpson

Coach Simpson enters his eighth year as head track and field coach for the 2026 outdoor season.

In his first season, Simpson led both the men’s and women’s teams to fourth place finishes in the inaugural Atlantic East Conference championship meet. Nafisa Saunders led the women with a second place finish in the 100 meter dash, a fourth place finish in the high jump and a third place finishes in both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 meter relays.  Rasheed Ross paced the men’s team with a second place finish in the 400 meter hurdles, a seventh place finish in the 400 meter dash and an eighth place finish in the 100 meter dash. Saunders and Ross were joined by Siobhan Cunningham and Diamond Talley at the ECAC championship meet.

As an assistant coach for the Knights from 2016-18, Simpson worked primarily with the team’s distance runners. Under his watch, Neumann runners set numerous program records, while several also qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships.

In addition to his work at Neumann, Simpson has also helped lead track programs at Goldey Beacom College, Christiana High School, Middletown High School and Conrad's High School of the Sciences. The coach is also a certified personal trainer and strength and weight consultant in various gyms and fitness centers in Delaware.

Simpson also still runs competitively himself, winning the Masters national track and field championship in both the 400 meter dash and 800 meter run in 2016.
