Coach Farnese begins his 13th season at the reins of Neumann’s women's basketball program in the 2017-18 season. During his tenure, he has led the Knights to a 188-136 overall record and a conference record of 136-53. The Knights qualified for the postseason in 11 out of Coach Farnese’s 12 seasons, winning two CSAC Championships.
Under Farnese’s leadership the Neumann University women’s basketball program won two consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference titles during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. In 12 seasons, Farnese’s teams have earned two NCAA tournament appearances and five bids to the ECAC South tournament. Coach Farnese has been recognized as the CSAC Coach of the Year twice; 2009-10 and 2010-11. Complementing his personal achievements, Farnese has seen several of his players recognized for personal awards and recognition as conference players of the year as well as All-American Honorable Mentions.
A native of Drexel Hill, Pa., Coach Farnese attended Monsignor Bonner High School. He is a 1995 graduate of Neumann College with a degree in Education. As dual sport athlete, Farnese was a four-year letterman in basketball and baseball for the Neumann Knights. He is a member of the Neumann Knights 1,000 point club, earning his 1,000th point on February 18, 1995, when he scored a total of 23 points against Allentown College. Coach Farnese ended his collegiate career with 1,026 points making him the 8th all-time leading scorer in Neumann College men's basketball history. As a two time team captain, Farnese earned PAC All-Conference honors his senior year.
After graduation, Farnese assisted Knights Head Coach George Wallace with the men's basketball team and then went on to assist Coach Bill Wiley at Penn State University-Brandywine. In 2001, Farnese took over the reins of the PSU-Brandywine Lions program after Wiley stepped down, leading the Lions to a playoff berth in his first season as head coach. He led PSU-Brandywine to 30 wins in his three seasons at the head of the program. He returned to his Alma Mater in the fall of 2004 joining Coach Nugent, Coach Wiley and the Neumann Knights men's basketball team as an assistant coach. After one season with the Knights' men's team, Coach Farnese took over the helm of the women's program.
Coach Farnese is a sales account manager for Camden Bag and Paper Company and resides in Brookhaven, Pa. with his wife Miki and sons Quinn and Luke.
