ASTON, Pa. – Blake Bonham scored the winning goal in overtime complete the comeback effort by #11 Hobart College over #13 Neumann College, 5-4, Saturday night.
The Knights had a 4-2 lead heading into the final five minutes of regulation. Hobart had a 5-on-3 power play that Patrick Moriarty capitalized on to make the score 4-3. With the goalie pulled, the Statesmen knotted the score at 4-all with 22 second left in regulation.
Bonham netted the game winner at the 2:49 mark of overtime, his third goal of the evening.
Michael Hedden scored twice for Neumann, now 4-4 on the season and 2-2 in the ECAC West. Erik Stoyanovich and Jesper Hultman netted the other goals for the Knights. Ross MacKinnon made 27 saves in net.
Hobart game out strong in the first period and took an early 2-0 lead. Hedden and Stoyanovich hit the back of the net in the first period to take a tied game at the first intermission. Hedded notched the only goal of the second period to put the Knights up 3-2 after two.
Hultman gave Neumann a two-goal cushion early in the third period, but the lead would not hold and Hobart game back to take the game in overtime.
Neumann will travel to face Utica and Manhattanville next weekend. Both games are slated to start at 7 p.m.
