The Neumann College field hockey team traveled to play regional opponent, Drew University today. The Knights, who are still looking for their first win of the season, knew the Rangers would be a difficult opponent. While the Rangers defeated the Knights 4-0 the Knights continued to show improvement during their difficult early schedule as they saw determined play and effort from every team member.
The teams were evenly matched through the first 12 minutes of the game before the Rangers slipped one past freshman goal keeper Jordan Haviland (Eaglecrest HS /Auroua, CO) on a cross-cage shot from the right. The Rangers were able to capitalize on one of their defensive corners for their second goal and with just a few minutes to play in the first half they put in a third goal for their half-time edge of 3-0. Neumann faced 23 defensive corners for the entire game.
In the second half both teams played even until Drew was able to put together another goal mid way through the second half to produce the final margin of 4-0. The Knights fall to 0-5 on the season. Neumann will head to Glassboro, NJ on Tuesday September 16th to play nationally ranked Rowan University at 7:30 pm.
