Field Hockey Remains Undefeated at Home

DiCiccio nets goal in OT for win

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College field hockey team remained undefeated at home with an exciting 3-2 win I overtime against Philadelphia Biblical University Saturday afternoon as a part of 2008 homecoming festivities.
 

Rachael DiCiccio scored the game winning goal 3:25 into the overtime session after deflecting a shot put Lauren Hood.  Earlier, Hood scored the first goal of the game. Megan Scott also scored for the Knights.

Erica Yordy and Megan Heater had the goals for Philadelphia Biblical. Lauren Roth made 14 saves in for the Eagles. 

Neumann poured on the shots, outshooting Philadelphia Biblical 37-12 in the game. In the overtime period, the Knights had a 4-1 advantage. 

Hood put Neumann (3-7, 2-0 CSAC) on the board at the 22:41 mark in the first half off a pass from DiCiccio. The 1-0 lead stood into the second half. Philadelphia Biblical (2-7, 0-2 CSAC) scored two goals in a two minute span in the second half to take a 2-1 lead. Megan Scott tied the game on a goal assisted by Hood at 52:39. Regulation would end with the scored knotted 2-2. 

In overtime, Neumann had three good scoring changes with the ball going wide on the shot. DiCiccio had her third shot of the extra period, off a pass from Hood, get past the goalkeeper to give the Knights the 3-2 win and remain undefeated at Bruder field this season. 

Neumann will travel to Pomona, New Jersey on Tuesday to take on Richard Stockton College in non-conference action. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
