SCRANTON, Pa. – Marquise Boggs hit a jumper with 2.2 second left in the second half to give Neumann College a 80-79 win over Marywood University Monday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
Eli Hitchens paced the Knights with 20 points and nine rebounds. Sean Armstrong scored 15 points and was 13-for-15 from the line. Boggs netted 12 points and Na'Sheed Linton added 10.
Prince Blackwell led the Pacers with 27 points. Sidney Tharpe netted 19 points and nine rebounds. Matthew Medici added 15 points.
Marywood held the lead for the majority of the second half, including a nine point lead, 50-41 at the 15:29 mark. Neumann started chipping away at the lead and got to within two, 70-68, with five minutes remaining. The Pacer made their last basket with 49 second left to take a five points advantage, 79-74. Patrick O'Conner made two baskets to get the Knights within one point with 17 seconds left. The Pacers missed two free throws with 15 seconds remaining. Armstrong got the rebound and Neumann would take the ball down the court. Boggs hit his jumper with 2.2 seconds left. After a Marywood timeout, Karl Anderson missed a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded.
Neumann held the advantage for most of the first half, including a nine point lead, but Marywood did not let up and the Knights took a one point lead, 33-32, at halftime.
Neumann, now 8-7 overall and 4-2 in the conference, will host Keystone on Thursday night in a CSAC match-up. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
