Neumann Falls to Keystone by Seven

ASTON, Pa. - Neumann lead Keystone by seven at the half but were not able to hold off the Giants. With eight minutes left in the second half, Keystone took the lead and finished with the win.

Patrick O'Connor was out in front for the Knights with 15 points and 7 boards. Mike Hitchens finished the night with eight and Eli Hitchens, who got into foul trouble early, was held to only 6 points but still lead the team with 10 boards on the loss.

A young Keystone team got off to a seven point lead before Neumann was able to get points on the board. The Knights came charging back and was able to tie it up at the 13 minute mark in the first half off of a Na'Sheed Linton steal and fast-break lay-up.

O'Connor secured the lead for the Knights on an alley-oop lay-up from Toure Wright with ten minutes remaining in the half. In the final minute of the half, Mike Hitchens put away a lay-up giving the Knights the 27-20 lead.

Keystone tallied the first points of the second half as they began to climb out of their seven-point hole. The Giants capitalized on 12 Neumann turnovers in the half and back to back turnovers at the 15 minute mark put the Giants within two.

The teams traded baskets until Keystone took the lead for the final time with eight minutes left to play. Trailing 42-40, the Knights took a timeout hoping to regroup. The Knights battled until the final seconds of play but the Giants pulled away to a seven point victory. Final score: Keystone 59, Neumann 52.

The loss brings Neumann to 4-3 in the CSAC and 8-8 overall. Keystone improves to 4-2 in the conference and 10-4 overall. The Knights are back in action when they host Cabrini College at the Bruder Gymnasium on Saturday, January 24th at 2:00PM. Check back to www.neumannathletics.com for a live broadcast!
