Women's Ice Hockey Shuts Out Cortland State

, N.Y. – The Neumann College women's ice hockey team shut out Cortland State, 6-0, Friday night in ECAC West action.

 

Jasper Thomson led the team with four points, a goal and three assists. Vicki Scott netted two goals and one assists. Holly Williams added two assists. The team went 3-for-4 on the power play.

 

Jessica Schroeder opened the scoring at the 5:04 mark of the first period. Nicole Alexopoulos scored a power play goal, from Thomson and Williams, at the 17:22 mark to give the Knights a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.

 

Scott scored the only goal of the second period on the power play, from Kayla Dubowski and Thomson, with 1:02 left on the clock.

 

Thomson netted her goal on the power play from Scott at 8:59. The Knights then scored two goals in 28 seconds, from Jenelle Marier and Scott, to seal the victory.

 

Mel Brunet made 33 saves in net for the shutout. Neumann evens its record at 8-8 overall and 5-4 in the conference. The two teams will face off again tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
