Women's Basketball Gets Big Win at Home

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College women's basketball defeated the College of Notre Dame, 74-55, Thursday evening in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match-up.

 

Neumann was once again led by junior Brittany Whetts with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Jordan Elgart  notched double figures for the second consecutive game with 10 points. Katie Young grabbed 10 boards.

 

Briana Gap scored 11 points for the Gators. Khadija Mitchell and India Scott both added 10 points. Scott added 10 rebounds.

 

Neumann was in charge of the game from the start. The Knights outscored the Gators 16-2 in the first five minutes. Notre Dame came as close as seven points, 20-13 and 22-15, but Neumann pulled away again and took an 18 point advantage, 42-24, into halftime.

 

The Knights held a 20+ point advantage for the majority of the second half. The biggest lead was 28 points, 64-36, with seven minutes left in regulation.

 

Before tonight's game, junior Brittany Whetts was presented with the ball from her 1,000th point, which she scored last week at Rosemont. Neumann will travel to Keystone on Monday for a CSAC contest. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
