NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Neumann College men's ice hockey fell to Elmira College, 4-2, Saturday afternoon in the consolation game of the Times-Argus Invitational in Northfield, Vt.
Elmira scored two goals in each of the first and second periods to take a 4-0 lead after two, all goals were even-strength. Neumann would score its two goals in the third period, but could not get back in the game.
Marlon Gardner scored the Knights first goal, a 5-on-3 goal, at 7:41 of the third period from Charles Paterson and Matt Ward. Ward netted his second goal of the tournament, a power play goal from Paterson and Kyle Casey, just 1:03 later.
Ross MacKinnon started the game for the Knights, making nine saves while allowing four goals. Matt Tendler made 10 saves in net.
Neumann, 8-6-1 overall, will travel to SUNY-Potsdam on Thursday, January 8, before returning home on Saturday, January 10 to host Western New England. The puck is set to drop for both game at 7 p.m.
