ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College women's ice hockey team fell to #4 Elmira College, 5-1, Friday evening in ECAC West action at Ice Works.
Nicki Blazenko netted the Knights goal on the power play off assists from Robyn Armstrong and Jessica Schroeder.
Jenna McCall scored two goals for the Soaring Eagles. She also added an assist. Lindsay Mitchell had a goal and an assist. Kayla Coady notched two assists. Elmira was 4-for-10 on the power play.
Elmira scored on its first two power play chances of the game. The Knights then killed off two 5-on-3 Elmira power plays. The Soaring Eagles netted the only second period goal, also on the power play.
Blazenko cut Elmira's lead to 3-1 with her goal at the 8:15 mark of the third period. Elmira answered quickly with a goal 39 seconds later. McCall scored her second goal of the game with six minutes remaining and sealed the win for the Soaring Eagles.
Mel Brunet made 27 saves in net for Neumann, which is now 9-9 overall and 6-5 in the conference. Neumann wore pink jerseys during the game to bring awareness to breast cancer. The two teams will face-off again tomorrow afternoon. The puck is set to drop at 2 p.m.
