ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University (5-5, 4-1 CSAC) field hockey team defeated Marywood University (4-8, 2-4 CSAC), 3-2, Tuesday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest.
Neither team scored in the first half. Neumann's Melissa Malick opened the scoring in the 42nd minute of the contest, off an assist from Melissa Hood. Marywood came back and tied the game at one four minutes later as Amber Mohrmann scored off a pass from Brittany Beaton.
In the 60th minute, Megan Scott scored on a shot from the top of the circle to put the Knights up 2-1. Kate Murphy assisted on the goal. Callie Emel added another Knights goal a minute later.
The Pacers would not go quietly and scored with 22 seconds left on the clock as Beaton notched her second point of the afternoon. But it wasn't enough as Neumann held on for the win.
Sarah Alphin made 11 saves in net for Neumann. Jamie Bowman had 16 saves for the Pacers.
Neumann will host King's College on Thursday evening beginning at 7 p.m.
