BALTIMORE, Md. – The Neumann University field hockey team shutout the College of Notre Dame, 6-0, Saturday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game.
Callie Emel and Kelsey Mazur each scored a pair for the Knights. Melissa Hood and Melissa Malick also scored for Neumann. Maggie Carpenter named six saves in net for the shutout.
Hood opened the scoring 2:37 into the game and the Knights never looked back. Emel scored her first goal of the game in the 20th minute with an assist from Krystalyn Christensen. Emel scored her second goal in the 41st minute. Mazur scored her first goal of the contest just 21 seconds after Emel. Malick and Mazur would each score in the remaining time to give Neumann the 6-0 win.
Neumann evens its record at 7-7 overall and 6-2 in the conference. The Knights will be right back on the field tomorrow when they host Frostburg for senior day. The game will begin at 3 p.m.
