ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team completed an opening weekend sweep of Geneseo with a 2-0 win Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
Neither team could score until Marlon Gardner lit the lamp on the power play 6:19 into the third period. Brent Tamane and William Lacasse assisted on the goal.
Geneseo would pull its goaltender with 1:35 left on the clock to try and tie the game, but Cory Park scored an empty net goal to secure the win. Matt Ward and Jeff Rodell assisted on the empty netter.
Matt Tendler made 21 saves in net for the shutout. Neumann, now 2-0 on the young season, will travel to Utica next Friday to open ECAC West conference play. The game is slated for 7 p.m.
