Mathis Reaches 1,000 Kills, But Knights Fall

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Neumann University volleyball team competed at the St. Mary's Quad Match on Saturday. The Knights dropped their three matches.

With her eight kills against St. Mary's, Junior Ashley Mathis reached her 1,000th career kill.

In Neumann's first match of the day, Neumann fell to Frostburg 3-0. Game scores were 27-25, 25-13, 25-13. Mathis notched 11 kills. Cecily Scavicchio dished out 25 assists. Melissa Haines led the team with 22 digs.

Against Stevenson, the Knights fell in four games, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-12. Mathis led the team with 11 kills. Scavicchio handed out 36 assists. Haines notched 14 kills and Scavicchio added 11.

In the final match of the day, Neumann dropped the match to host St. Mary's in three sets. Game scores were 26-25, 25-19, 25-12. Mathis notched her 1,000th kill with her eight kills in the match. Scavicchio dished out 25 assists. Haines led the team with 12 digs.

Neumann will wrap-up conference play on Tuesday when it hosts the College of Notre Dame. The match is slated to start at 7 p.m.
