UTICA, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team opened ECAC West action against Utica College Friday night. The Knights and the Pioneers tied at 4-all.
Aaron Keaney scored twice for the Knights. Jeffrey Bienvenue and Sean Crozier also lighted the lamp. Ross MacKinnon made 29 saves in net. The Knights scored all four goals in the third period.
Utica scored the only goal of the first two periods at the 8:06 mark of the first period. The Pioneers would make the score 2-0 before the Knights would net four goal in seven minute in the third period.
Keaney scored his first goal, off an assist from Jeremy Gates, at the 3:45 mark. Bienvenue scored from Jeff Rodell two minutes later. Less than a minute after that, Keaney scored his second goal from Cory Park and Brent Tamane. Crozier put the Knights up 4-2 midway through the third.
Utica would cut the lead to one, 4-3, with a power play goal at 13:23. With the goalie pulled, the Pioneers tied the game at 4-all with one second left on the clock.
Neither team could score in the extra session. Neumann is now 2-0-1 on the season and 0-0-1 after the first conference game. The Knights will travel back to Utica next Friday for an ECAC West game beginning at 7 p.m.
