ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team defeated Oswego State, 4-2, Saturday evening in an ECAC West game.
Jasper Thomson and Kayla Dubowski both notched a goal and an assist. Nicole Alexopoulos added two assists.
The Knights scored three goals in the first period to take a 3-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Thomson started the scoring early, netting her goal 39 seconds in to the game. Dubowski scored on a slap shot from the point at the 14:36 mark. Jennie Greenlee assisted on the goal, her first collegiate point. Diane Peters scored a power play goal with 2:36 left in the first for the 3-0 lead.
Oswego netted its first goal 22 seconds into the second period. The Lakers then cut the lead to 3-2, 12:35 into the second on a power play goal. Mariah Fairgrieve scored her first goal as a Knight just over a minute later to put the Knights back up by two goals.
Oswego had a goal called off late in the third period due to the puck being kicked in the net and Neumann took the 4-2 conference win.
The Knights out shot the Lakers, 44-20, in the game. Laura Keeley made 18 saves in net for the win. The two teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
