Men's Basketball Defeats Centenary in CSAC Action

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team improved to 2-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action with a 91-83 win over Centenary College Saturday afternoon.

The Knights had five players in double-figures. Leading the way was Na'Sheed Linton with 24 points. He also dished out 11 assists for his second double-double of the season. Ty Robinson netted 20 points. Toure' Wright notched 12 points and grabbed a team high nine rebounds. Patrick O'Connor scored 11 points and Marquise Boggs added 10. Mike Walukiewicz sunk three from beyond the arc for nine points. 

Centenary also had five players in double-digits. Ryan Kearney led the Cyclones with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Corey Kearney scored 14 and Rob Urie had 13. Max Hughes and Jakub Halicki each added 10. Halicki also notched 10 boards.

Neumann controlled the pace of the game in the first half, building its lead to as many as 16 in the first 20 minutes. The Knights held a seven point advantage, 46-39, at halftime. 

Centenary started the second half with seven straight points to tie the game at 46. After the teams traded baskets, the Knights held the Cyclones to just five points over the next five minutes and jumped out to a 61-51 lead.

The Cyclones would chip away at the lead and get to within three points, 74-71, with 6:08 left on the clock. Neumann scored the next four points and Centenary could not climb any closer. 

Neumann improves to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Knights will host Marywood on Monday in CSAC action. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. in the Mirenda Center.
