ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team shutout Lebanon Valley College, 6-0, Saturday afternoon in ECAC West Action.
Matt Ward notched and goal and two assists for the Knights. Marlon Gardner netted two goals. Sean Crozier and Greg Virgo each added a goal and an assist. Brent Tamane and Andrew Love both dished out two assists. Matt Tendler earned his third shutout of the season, making 18 saves in net.
The Knights scored two goals in each period. Ward opened the scoring 9:05 into the first period, off an assist from Tamane. Crozier netted the second goal at the 13:38 mark of the first. Love and Virgo assisted on the goal.
Gardner scored both of his goals in the second period. His first goal came on the power play a minute into the period. Ward and Mat Valois had the assists. The sophomore scored again 2:25 later. Tamane and Ward assisted and the Knights went into the second intermission up 4-0.
Cory Park, from Aaron Keaney and Jordan Zalba, and Virgo, from Love and Crozier, notched the goals in the third period.
Neumann is now 5-4-2 in the season and 2-3-2 in conference action. The Knights will travel to SUNY-Cortland next weekend for two non-conference games. Action begins at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
