MBB Remains Perfect in CSAC, Beat Pacers 57-54

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team held on to defeat Marywood University, 57-54, Monday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
 

Ty Robinson led the Knights with 17 points. Na'Sheed Linton added 14 points.  

James Lavan scored 15 for the Pacers. Matthew Medici notched 13. 

Marquise Boggs hit the winning lay-up with 17 seconds left on the clock. Boggs' two-points put the Knight up by one, 55-54. Robinson then went 2-for-2 from the line with nine seconds left for a three point lead. The Pacers attempted a three-pointer as time ran out, but missed and Neumann improved to 3-0 in conference action. 

The first half was low scoring and remained close. Neumann did not hold a lead in the first 20 minutes, but the Pacers could not gain more than a six point lead. Marywood held a 22-17 advantage at halftime. 

The second half featured four ties and nine lead changes. After Marywood opened the half with a lay-up, Linton answered with five straight points of his own to cut the lead to two. Toure' Wright then hit a lay-up to knot the game at 24. 

The Pacers took a seven point advantage, 36-29, at the 12:13 mark of the second. Neumann chipped away and tied the game again, 36-36. With 2:59 left in regulation, and the scored knotted at 51, Robinson sunk two free throws. Marywood's Lavan answered with a three-pointer for a one point Pacer lead with 1:26 on the clock, 54-53. Marywood would not score another point and Neumann would prevail with the 57-54 win. 

Neumann improves to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in conference action. Marywood is now 3-5 overall and 0-4 in the CSAC. The Knights will travel to Rowan next Friday evening to close out the first semester of play. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
