Women's Basketball Wins By One

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College women's basketball defeated Immaculata University, 57-56, Thursday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

 

Brittany Whetts led the Knights with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Katie Young netted 10 points and Nicole Feby added nine.

 

Dominique Murray led the Mighty Macs with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Kelly Brown scored 12 points.

 

Immaculata led the game for the first 29:35, however, the Knights kept it within seven points. Nicole Feby tied the game at 38-all with a three-pointer with 10:25 remaining. For the next five minutes, the game four ties and three lead changes before a free throw by Whetts put Neumann up, 46-45.

 

The Mighty Macs would tie the game one more time at 51 with 2:01 remaining. A free throw by Sami Borcky gave the Knights a four point lead, 57-53, with nine seconds left. Immaculata's Kacie O'Neill hit a three-pointer just before the buzzer, but it was not enough and Neumann won 57-56.

 

The Knights improve to 15-7 overall and 10-3 in the conference. Neumann will host Cabrini on Saturday in CSAC action. The Cavaliers defeated the Knights, 47-40, earlier this season at Madison Square Garden. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
