ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College men's ice hockey team fell to Utica College, 7-3, Saturday evening in ECAC West hockey action.
Erik Stoyanovich had a goal and two assists for the Knights.
Tim Coffman had a goal and three assists for the Pioneers. Nick Kulas and Vincent Nucci each netted two goals and an assist.
A five goal third period was enough to bring Utica from behind for the win. Neumann held a 3-2 advantage going into the third period. Utica tied the game at three-all 24 seconds into the third. The Pioneers then took the lead at the 3:07 mark. Just over a minute later, Utica padded its lead to 5-3. Two more goals in the period sealed the win for the Pioneers.
Jesse Cole put the Knights on the board 7:30 into the game. Bill Foster put Neumann up 2-0 a minute later. Utica cut the lead to 2-1.
The teams traded goals in the second period as Neumann took a 3-2 lead at the second intermission.
Ross MacKinnon made 24 saves in net. Justin Bolla had 40 saves for Utica.
The team also recognized its 13 seniors who played their last regular season game at home tonight. They are: #3 Doug Slipacoff, #10 Donovan Hall, #13 Kyle Casey, #14 Stewart Sjoberg, #16 Ryan Heickert, #18 Erik Stoyanovich, #21 Joe Dolan, #22 Lincoln-Kaleigh Schrock, #23 Brock Van Slyke, #26 Jesse Cole, #28 Michael Hedden, #51 Jordan Erikson and assistant coach Michael DeMarchi.
Neumann will travel to Hobart next weekend for two ECAC West contests. The puck is set to drop on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
