ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College women's lacrosse team earned its first Colonial States Athletic Conference win by a 16-11 score over Immaculata University Wednesday afternoon.
Gabby D'Ambrosio led the team with eight goals.
Dominique Thompson netted three goals and
Colleen Finnegan added two.
Kathleen Sinclair made 15 saves in net.
Rebecca Whiteman scored five goals for Immaculata. Kacie O'Neill added three goals. Brittany Worthington made 19 saves.
The Mighty Macs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game. D'Ambrosio netted two of her goals to tie the game a few minutes later. Thompson gave the Knights their first lead with her first goal. O'Neill knotted the game at three with 17:36 left in the first half. Neumann answered with four straight goals to take the lead it would not relinquish.
Immaculata netted two goals before Neumann ended the half scoring three, including two in the final 30 seconds.
With the score 13-5 midway through the second half, the Mighty Macs scored four goals to cut the lead to 13-9. The Knights answered with three goals, but the Mighty Macs netted the final two goals of the game as they did not go quietly.
Neumann will travel to Centenary College on Saturday for a conference match-up.
