GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann College women's lacrosse team defeated Gwynedd-Mercy College, 17-14, Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

Gabby D'Ambrosio and Colleen Finnegan scored five goals for the Knights. Alex Bohen and Rachael DiCicco each netted three. Kathleen Sinclair made five saves in net.

Colleen Dellostretto had six goals for the Griffins. Shannon Carabba scored three. Trisha Timony had 13 saves in net.

The teams opened the game by trading goals during the first ten minutes. With the score tied at four, Neumann netted five straight goals to take a 9-4 lead. The Knights would take an 11-6 advantage into half time.

The Griffins started to chip away at the Knights lead and with 7:31 left on the clock scored for a 14-13 Neumann lead.

Finnegan scored with 4:05 remaining to put Neumann back up by two. D'Ambrosio then scored 20 seconds later for a three-goal Knights lead. Neumann held on for the 17-14 win.

Neumann improves to 4-8 overall and 3-2 in the conference. The Knights travel to the College of Notre Dame (Md.) on Tuesday for a CSAC match-up. Game-time is slated for 4 p.m.
