ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team opened its 2009 season with a 3-0 loss at No. 24 Haverford College Tuesday evening.

For the Knights, Ashley Mathis and Natalie George led the team with four kills each. Cecily Scavicchio dished out 14 assists and Melissa Haines notched 14 digs.

For the Fords, Rebecca and Rachel Salvo each notched 10 kills. Kate Comey dished out 31 assists.

Neumann will compete in the Battlefield Classic this weekend at Gettysburg College. Friday's action begins at 3 p.m. while Saturday's matches start at 10 a.m.
