SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team dropped a non-conference contest to Swarthmore College, 3-2, Wednesday afternoon.
Melissa Malick and Melissa Hood scored for the Knights.
Swarthmore got on the board first just three minutes into the game. The Garnet added another goal in the 13th minute. Malick netted her goal as time expired to make the halftime score 2-1.
Swarthmore would add another goal in the 41st minute. M. Hood then netted her goal off a pass from her sister Lauren Hood to get the Knights to within one, but Neumann could not net the tying goal.
Sarah Alphin made eight saves in net for the Knights, who are 1-4 on the season. Neumann will return home to play its first game on the newly finished turf field on Saturday. The Knights will host conference opponent Cedar Crest at 11 a.m.
