ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team competed in the Blue Jay Classic at Elizabethtown College Friday and Saturday.
Friday night, the Knights spilt a pair of matches. The Knights fell to Gallaudet before defeated Wentworth. Both matches were 3-0.
Against Gallaudet, Emilee Gruse had 10 kills while Lauren Sheehan added eight. Cecily Scavicchio dished out 22 assists. Melissa Haines led the team with seven digs. Jerrae Robinson and Sheehan each had three aces.
Robinson and Sheehan both notched nine kills in the match against Wentworth. Natalie George added eight and notched two solo blocks. Scavicchio dished out 36 assists and four service aces. Haines had 10 digs.
In the final match of the day, Neumann faced Widener in the fifth-place match. Widener won the match in four sets, 22-25, 25-20, 25-12, 25-20. Robinson had 10 kills. Ashley Mathis notched nine while George added eight. Scavicchio dished out 30 assists. Sheenhan had three aces. Haines led the team in digs with 20. Scavicchio notched 16, Victoria Limmina had 13 and Maria Donahue added 12.
Neumann will host a tri-match with Rosemont and Cabrini on Tuesday evening. The first match will be between Rosemont and Neumann and it will begin at 5 p.m.
