Volleyball Splits CSAC Contests in Tri-Match

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University split a pair of conference games Tuesday night in a tri-match in the Bruder Gymnasium. The Knights defeated Rosemont College in three games. Neumann then fell in a hard fought match to Cabrini, 3-2.

 

Neumann won the first match over Rosemont, 3-0. Game scored were 25-8, 25-8, 25-19. Ashley Mathis led the Knights with 13 kills. Jerrae Robinson added 10 kills. Cecily Scavicchio dished out 24 assists.

 

The team had 20 service aces. Robinson led the team with five. Victoria Limmina and Scavicchio each had four and Maria Donahue added three.

 

Cabrini defeated Rosemont in the second match of the evening, 3-0, (25-14, 25-4, 25-10).

 

In the final match of the night, the Knights fell to Cabrini, 3-2, in a close match. The Cavaliers took the first two sets, 26-24, 25-21. Neumann came back and won the next two sets, 25-21, 25-23. 

In the fifth and deciding set, Cabrini took the match with a 15-11 decision.

 

Mathis led the Knights with 29 kills and three block solos against Cabrini. Robinson notched 13 kills while Emilee Gruse added 12. Scavicchio dished out 56 assists. Melissa Haines had 21 digs and three service aces. Donahue added 13 digs and Scavicchio had 10.

 

Lauren Sheehan and Natalie George each had three block assists.

 

Neumann is now 4-15 on the season and 3-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The Knights will travel to Cedar Crest on Thursday night for a conference match. The contest is slated to start at 7 p.m.
