Men's Basketball Falls in Close Game to Giant

ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University men's basketball team dropped a close game to Keystone College, 74-71, in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action Monday evening.

 

Sean Armstrong led the Knights with 21 points. He went 8-for-9 from the line. Na'Sheed Linton netted 19 while Patrick O'Connor added 13. Ty Robinson grabbed a team high nine boards.

 

Malcolm Boone led the Giants with 25 points and went 11-for-12 on free throws. Kenneth Hardnett netted 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Tercel Taylor added 10 points.

 

Boone netted the game-winner with 30 seconds left on the clock to put Keystone up by a 70-69 score. The Knights brought the ball down the court, but Armstrong committed a turnover. Keystone then hit four free throws with seven seconds remaining to take a 74-69 advantage. Linton hit a lay-up with one second remaining, but it wasn't enough. 

 

The first half was a close one, featuring three ties and five lead changes. Keystone closed the half making 3-of-4 free throws and to take a 37-31 lead advantage.

 

Keystone would extend its lead to as many as seven in the half, but with 15:13 on the clock and the Giants up 43-36, Neumann went on a 9-2 run to tie the game at 45-all. The teams tied the score again at 66-all with 2:22 left on the clock. Hardnett connected on a lay-up to put the Giants up by two. Linton then sank a three for a Knight's one-point lead with 56 seconds remaining. Boone then hit the eventual game-winner with 30 seconds on the clock.

 

Neumann (5-6, 3-1 CSAC) will host Rosemont on Thursday in CSAC action. The Knights defeated the Ravens earlier this season, 85-67. Thursday is also Knight Fever at the Mirenda Center. Come support your Knights as they compete in conference action. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. The women hit the court at 6 p.m.
