ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University men's basketball picked up a conference win against Rosemont College, 72-64, with a strong second half effort Thursday evening.
Marquise Boggs led the Knights with 23 points, 7 rebounds and shooting 3-4 from the foul line. Na'Sheed Linton netted 12 points and 8 assists in the victory.
Rosemont's Harrison Carsillo scored 15 points in the loss. Justin Chaney added 13 points, while Abraham Bah netted 11 points.
The first half of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match-up between Neumann University and Rosemont College was a display of three-point shooting. The teams combined to hit 12 three-pointers. Rosemont took the early lead, 15-7, by knocking down their first five shots all from beyond the arc. Neumann chipped away at Rosemont's lead, pulling within one point on a Patrick O'Conner three-pointer with eight minutes on the clock.
Mike Walukiewicz's three-pointer with 6:14 remaining in the half gave the Knights their first lead of the game, 25-23. The teams traded baskets for the final 5:39 of the half, resulting in five ties. Marquise Boggs drained a three-pointer with six seconds remaining in the half to give Neumann a 36-33 advantage at the half.
Neumann opened the second half with a 13-2 run, extending the lead to 51-35. A three-pointer by John Lewis gave Neumann a 20 point advantage, 57-37, their largest point margin of the game. Rosemont tried to make a late come back, pulling within nine points with under four minutes left in regulation. Boggs made two from the foul line to secure the 72-64 win.
Neumann improves to 6-6 overall and 4-1 CSAC. The Knights will travel to face CSAC opponent Centenary College Saturday afternoon beginning at 3 p.m.
