IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell to Immaculata University, 80-79, Monday evening in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest.
Na'Sheed Linton led four Knights in double-figures with 21 points. Toure' Wright netted 15 points and pulled down 15 boards. Marquise Boggs hit three shots from downtown and ended with 14 points and Sean Armstrong added 10.
Robert Siter led the Mighty Macs with 22 points. John Boyd netted 18. Nelson Torres scored 16 points while Jeff DeSantis added 13.
A free throw by Immaculata's Boyd with one second left on the clock gave the Mighty Macs the one point advantage and the win. The Knights had tied the game at 79-all with as Marquise Boggs hit a three-pointer with 12 ticks left.
Immaculata jumped out to an early eight point lead, 12-4, four minutes into the game. Midway through the half, baskets by Linton and Armstrong cut into the Mighty Macs lead. The two baskets by Wright gave Neumann the lead. The Knights held the Mighty Macs scoreless for three minutes and built a seven point lead, 33-26. The Knights took a 42-33 lead at halftime.
Neumann built its lead up to as many as 12 in the second half, 62-50, with 12:24 left in the half. Immaculata then started chipping away at the lead and with 5:41 on the clock, Immaculata hit a jumper to go ahead by one point, 70-69. The Mighty Macs held a five point advantage as time winded down, but Neumann would come back and tie the game at 79. Immaculata would get a shot at the line with one second left to win the game.
Neumann (9-8, 7-3 CSAC) will travel to Keystone College on Saturday for CSAC Action. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. The Knights fell to the Giants 74-71 in the meeting earlier this season.
