Field Hockey opens CSAC Playoffs against Immaculata

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team finished the regular season 5-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) and will be the No. 4 seed in the postseason.

 

The first round begins on Saturday, October 30. Neumann will hosts No. 5 seeded Immaculata University. Cabrini College and Gwyneed-Mercy College earned the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively, and receive a bye in the first round. No. 3 Keystone hosts No. 6 Marywood in the other first round game.

 

In their meeting earlier this season, the Knights defeated the Mighty Macs, 3-2, in overtime. The teams traded goals in both halves of regulation. Down 2-1, freshman Christina Hicks score for Neumann and sent the game into overtime. Sophomore Chelsa O'Donnell scored with 3:20 left in the first overtime to give the Knights the 3-2 win.

 

Neumann finished the regular season 7-12 overall. Sophomore Erica Crabtree led the way with five goals and six assists for 16 points. Freshmen Megan George and Hicks both netted four goals.

 

Senior Terri Yurick leads the team with six defensive saves. Earlier this season, she set the Neumann career reecord.

 

Action gets underway at Neumann at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The winner advances to the semifinals.
