Women's Basketball Wins at King's

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team picked up its first win of the young season with a convincing 71-47 win at King's (Pa.) College Thursday evening.

 

Krista DiRomualdo led the Knights with 16 points, including four from three-point range. Katie Young picked up her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Cecily Scavicchio netted 10 points off of the bench.

 

The teams were tied at 12 nine minutes into the first half when the Knights score seven straight points to make the score 19-12. Neumann kept adding to its lead and took a 32-19 advantage into halftime.

 

In the second half, Neumann built its lead up to 23, 50-27, on a three-pointer by DiRomualdo with 10:49 left on the clock. The Lady Monarchs started to chip into the Knights lead over the next three minutes and got to within 13, 54-41. Neumann tightened up the defense and King's managed just six points over the final seven minutes of regulation and the Knights came away with the 71-47 win.

 

Neumann (1-1) will participate in the Marymount Marine Corps Tip-off this weekend. The Knights will face host Marymount University on Saturday evening beginning at 7:30 p.m.
