PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team defeated No. 5 Manhattanville College, 5-1, Saturday evening in ECAC West action.
Five different Knights scored in the win. Michael Rey, David Gervais and Brent Tamane all had a goal and an assist. Scott Farrell notched two assists. Matt Tendler made 25 saves in the win.
Neumann notched three goals in the first period. Gervais opened the scoring 4:45 into the game. Rey added a power play goal three minutes later. Steve Gervais made it 3-0 at the 10:52 mark.
That was all that the Knights would need. Sean Bianchini scored his first goal of the season 12:59 into the third period for a commanding 4-0 lead. Manhattanville would get on the board with a power play goal with under five minutes left in regulation. Tamane added an empty net goal with 1:39 left to seal the win.
Neumann (4-2-1, 3-1 ECAC West) will host SUNY-Cortland next weekend over the Thanksgiving weekend. The puck will drop at 7 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
