Second Half Push Puts Profs Over Knights

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team dropped a 76-52 decision to non-conference foe Rowan University Saturday afternoon.

 

Katie Young notched a double-double with 15 rebounds and 14 points. Krista DiRomualdo netted nine points from three shots behind the arc.

 

Lauren Gregg led all players with 18 points for the Profs. She also pulled down 10 boards. Ashley Russo notched 16 points. Brittany Baum netted 12 points and 12 rebounds. Alissa Lamey added 10 points.

 

Rowan made a push with 15:11 left in the second half and the teams knotted at 38. The Profs scored seven straight points. Kieran Young and Erica Marvel hit baskets to bring Neumann to within three, but Rowan put the pressure back on. The Profs built its lead to 21, 67-46, with 3:25 left in regulation and didn't look back.

 

In the first half, the Profs went on a 10-0 run after the teams were tied at 17 to take a 10 points advantage. Neumann chipped away at the lead towards the end of the half and Rowan took a five points lead, 31-26, into halftime.

 

Neumann (5-5) goes into its winter break. The Knights will next play on January 3 when they travel to Alvernia.
