Knights Fall to Cavilers

ASTON, Pa. - Neumann University men's lacrosse fell to Cabrini College, 22-9, in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match-up on Saturday afternoon.

 

Justin Mailloux and Matt Toth led the Knights offense with three goals each. Tom Hedrick, Steve Minor and Brandon Thomas each added a goal. Andrew Neubauer played strong in goal with 16 saves.

 

The Cavilers spread around the scoring in the victory. Casey Grugan paced their offense with five goals and four assists. Erick Zarzecki took home the win making five saves.

 

Cabrini controlled the pace of the game for much of the first half, taking a 7-0 led at the end of the first quarter. Thomas scored with just under five minutes remaining to give the Knights their only goal of the half.

 

Neumann's defense played strong at the start of the second half, while their offense picked up. Toth, Mailloux and Minor all scored in the third for Neumann.

 

The offense continued to produce in the final quarter of play. Toth and Mailloux continued to chip into Cabrini's led, each netting two goals. Tom Hedrick scored one last got for the Neumann with 2:25 remaining. The Knights could not close the deficit before time ran out and fell 22-9.

 

Neumann is back in action next Saturday as they host Immaculata University at 1 p.m.
