CAROUSEL PARK, Del. – The Neumann University cross country teams competed at the Wilmington University cross country meet Saturday morning. The women place fourth out of seven teams while the men finished fifth out of five teams.
On the women's side, Philadelphia University came in first with 23 total team points. The University of the Sciences finished second with 60 points and Wilmington University was third with 88 points.
Neumann finished fourth with 105 points, Lincoln University was fifth (139), Bloomfield sixth (141) and Caldwell seventh (168).
Kelly Rehder paced the Knights in the 5K race. She finished 13th out of 53 runners with a time of 23:16. Kaitlyn Broadhurst was the second runner from Neumann to cross the finish line with a time of 23:54, good for 16th place.
Emily Stowell placed 21st with a time of 24:18. Lindsey Lapetina finished in a time of 24:33 and in 26th place. Rounding out the runners was Annamarie Conner with a time of 27:46 and in 38th place.
For the men, Philadelphia University finished in first place, with a team score of 28. The University of the Sciences came in second with 40 points and Wilmington University placed third with 74. Bloomfield came in fourth (103) and Neumann rounded out the teams in fifth (136).
Tim Schmitz was the first Knights to finish the 5 mile race. He finished 30th out of 42 runners with a time of 33:39. Michael Hammond and Eddie Nungesser placed 34th and 35th with times of 35:00 and 35:04, respectively.
Anthony Defrancesco finished with at time of 36:17 (38th) and Chris Brown rounded out the Neumann runners with a time of 36:45 (41st).
The teams will compete at the Monmouth Invitational in Holmdel, N.J. next Saturday.
