ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team defeated No. 5 Manhattanville College, 5-2, Friday evening in ECAC West action.
Mat Valois notched a goal and two assists. Andrew Love had a goal and an assist. Ross MacKinnon made 16 saves in net.
Mickey Lang had two assists for the Valients. Pierre-Olivier Lemieux had 36 saves for Manhattanville.
Bill Foster opened the scoring at the 17:05 mark of the first period. Manhattanville then scored two goals in the final 1:18 of the first period, the first one on a 5-on-3 and the second on a man advantage.
Aaron Keaney tied the game at two with a power play goal 2:44 into the second period. Marlon Gardner netted the eventual game-winner mid-way through the second. Love put Neumann up 4-2 at the 16:34 mark.
Valois scored an insurance goal 5:02 into the third to give the Knights the eventual 5-2 win.
Neumann improves to 10-5-3 and 4-2 in the ECAC West. Manhattanville is now 13-4-1 and 1-4 in the conference. The two teams will face-off again tomorrow evening at 7 p.m.
