ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team fell to No. 5 Elmira College, 3-2, in overtime Friday evening in ECAC West action.
The Soaring Eagles scored the game-winner just 31 seconds into the overtime session.
Elmira scored the only goal of the first period at the 9:56 mark. The Soaring Eagles would then take a 2-0 lead 12:23 into the third period.
Nicole Alexopoulos would cut the Elmira lead to one with just under six minutes left in the game. Jessica Schroeder tied the game at two at the 16:28 mark to send the game into overtime.
Shannon Donnelly made 27 saves in net.
Neumann is now 8-6-2 overall and 5-6 in the conference. Elmira improves to 13-4-1 overall and 9-1-1 in the ECAC West. The two teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon beginning at 3 p.m.
