ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team picked up a key Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) win against Marywood University, 1-0, on Tuesday evening. The Knights also honored their three seniors Sarah Diener, Megan Scott and Jennie Greenlee before the game.
It would be a scoreless first half as both teams were almost completely even in shots. Lindsey Kasecamp gave a stellar performance in net with seven saves which included a diving save early in the game to keep the Pacers off the scoreboard.
The lone goal by the Knights would come in the 63rd minute from Chelsa O'Donnell. There would be a scramble in front of the net, but O'Donnell found the open hole to give Neumann the lead and eventual win.
It would not be an easy finish to the game for the Knights as Marywood put up a strong offense for the final seven minutes, but the Neumann defense was able to hold out. There would be one defensive save from Megan Scott with just over two minutes left on the clock. The mark would give her the record for most in a single season with 10.
The Knights (5-11, 3-3 CSAC) will travel to Cedar Crest on Saturday for an 11:00AM start.
