ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team fell to Manhattanville College 7-4 on Friday evening in ECAC West action.
Jordan Zalba scored two goals for the Knights. Ross MacKinnon made 24 saves in net in two periods. Matt Tendler had seven saves in the third period.
The Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the first period as Jake Kratz and Zalba scored a minute apart of each other. The Valiants made the score 2-1 with their first of three power play goals at the 13:03 minute mark.
Manhattanville scored four goals in the second period, including two on the power play. Zalba notched a goal in the middle of the goal flurry and made the score 3-3 at the time, however, the Valiants held a 5-3 lead going into the intermission.
Manhattanville scored just 1:39 into the third period to take a 6-3 advantage. Aaron Keaney answered 20 seconds later to cut the lead back to two. The Valiants added an insurance goal with 1:14 left in regulation for the 7-4 final.
Neumann (2-2, 1-2 ECAC West) will host No. 7 Utica College tomorrow evening in conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
